Mumbai, July 22:The Nifty 50 traded in a narrow range on Wednesday, with gains in select auto, FMCG and energy stocks offset by weakness in banking, aviation and pharmaceutical counters. Bajaj Auto, Nestle India and ONGC emerged as the session’s top gainers, while IndiGo, SBI and Axis Bank led the losers’ list.
Market participants largely stayed focused on quarterly earnings and company-specific developments. Buying was concentrated in a handful of defensive and auto stocks, while profit booking continued in financials and select large-cap names after recent gains.
