Bengaluru, October 28, 2025: Ola Electric Mobility Limited (NSE: OLAELEC, BSE: 544225) has announced that ARAI has certified its 4680 Bharat Cell battery packs under the AIS-156 Amendment 4 standards. This is a new milestone as Ola is the first Indian EV company to obtain certification for a fully indigenous 4680 battery pack.

Ola Electric Unveils New 4680 Bharat Cell Battery

Ola Electric Mobility Limited has announced the development of a new 4680 Bharat Cell with a capacity of 5.2 kWh. This cell has received ARAI certification under the AIS-156 Amendment 4 standards, ensuring compliance with the evolved safety and performance standards.

The first product to be equipped with this new battery technology will be the S1 Pro+, and the cells will be produced in-house at the Ola Futurefactory location in Tamil Nadu – a significant milestone towards local electric vehicle assembly.

A Major Step Toward EV Independence

Until now, Ola’s scooters and motorcycles depended on third-party cells. With this announcement, the company has formally taken a step toward a greater degree of vertical integration for the company with expected positive effects on performance, range, and unit economics, in addition to reduced dependence on global supply chains.

The battery pack certification included an intense set of global testing procedures, which examined the battery pack under thermal shock conditions, vibration durability and water immersion testing to ensure regulatory compliance for high standards of safety and reliability.

According to a spokesperson from Ola Electric, “With the ARAI certification of our 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack, we are now equipped to supply our first vehicles with our own cells! With this milestone achieved, we can further our mission to build India’s EV technology leadership and reduce global dependence on EV batteries! Soon, our customers will experience improved range, performance, and reliability.”
