Why Price Band Hitters Matter
Price band activity can give investors a quick idea of where buying or selling pressure is unusually strong. Stocks at their upper bands have seen buyers push prices up to the maximum permitted daily level, while those at lower bands are facing intense selling. But a price-band move is only a snapshot of the session. Trading volume, company developments and the reason behind the price movement still matter when assessing what is happening in a stock.
Conclusion
The final session on September 9 saw strong moves on both sides of the price-band list. Nova Agritech Ltd and Indian Nippon Electricals Ltd led the upward moves, with both stocks gaining close to or at their maximum daily limits. Rhetan TMT Ltd and Bodal Chemicals Ltd, meanwhile, ended at their 5% lower bands. The heavy volumes in TCC International Ltd and Rhetan TMT Ltd also showed that these price moves came with significant trading activity.
