Mumbai, June 26 — Indian equity benchmarks continued their upward momentum for the third consecutive day on Thursday, supported by positive global cues following the ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

Indices Rally in Early Trade

The BSE Sensex opened higher, gaining 163.27 points to touch 82,918.78, while the NSE Nifty advanced 64.35 points to 25,309.10.

The rally strengthened as the session progressed. By late morning, the Sensex had risen by 415.98 points to 83,171.49, and the Nifty was up 115.50 points, reaching 25,359.45.

Major gainers among the 30-share Sensex pack included:

  • Bharat Electronics Ltd
  • Tata Steel
  • Eternal
  • Bharti Airtel
  • Bajaj Finance
  • Adani Ports

Key Laggards

Stocks under pressure included:

  • Tech Mahindra
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank
  • State Bank of India
  • Tata Consultancy Services

Global Markets and Oil Prices

In the broader global context, Asian markets showed mixed performance. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Shanghai’s SSE Composite traded higher, while South Korea’s Kospi and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were marginally lower. US markets closed on a mixed note on Wednesday.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, edged up by 0.22% to USD 67.83 per barrel.

Institutional Activity

On Wednesday, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹2,427.74 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased shares amounting to ₹2,372.96 crore, as per exchange data.

Previous Session Recap

On Wednesday, the Sensex had surged 700.40 points or 0.85%, closing at 82,755.51, while the Nifty gained 200.40 points or 0.80%, ending at 25,244.75.
