Mumbai, May 26: Silver prices in India were unchanged on Tuesday, with the national benchmark rate holding firm at ₹285 per gram, or ₹2,850 per 10 grams and ₹2,85,000 per kilogram, identical to Monday’s close. The stability extends the consolidation phase that has set in after the sharp post-duty volatility earlier in the month, suggesting that the market has now settled into a comfortable trading band rather than chasing fresh extremes.

With prices locked in the ₹2,800–₹2,900 per 10 gram range, traders describe the current mood as one of “wait and watch”, with both buyers and sellers adjusting to the new cost structure created by higher import duties and firmer global benchmarks.

In the background, domestic silver prices continue to take their cues from international trends and the rupee–dollar equation. Silver in India is priced off global spot and futures rates, so any sharp move overseas typically transmits into the local market, especially when combined with currency swings. A weaker rupee against the dollar tends to make imported silver more expensive even if global prices are flat, while a stronger rupee can soften the blow of higher international quotes.

City-Wise Prices: Tuesday vs Monday

On a city basis, Tuesday’s rates broadly mirror the pattern seen at the start of the week, with southern centres continuing to command a premium over the national benchmark. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala are quoting silver at ₹2,950 per 10 grams, or ₹29,500 per 100 grams and ₹2,95,000 per kilogram, maintaining a ₹100 premium over the allIndia rate. In contrast, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad are all aligned with the benchmark at ₹2,850 per 10 grams, while Bangalore is trading just ₹1 lower at ₹2,849 per 10 grams. Compared with Monday’s levels of ₹2,850 per 10 grams in most metros and ₹2,950 in the key southern markets, there is effectively no meaningful change in any of the major cities, reinforcing the view that silver is consolidating rather than preparing for an immediate breakout.

Gold Prices

Gold prices in India fell for a second consecutive session on Tuesday, extending Monday’s modest correction as selling pressure continued to weigh on the metal amid a firming US dollar and easing of some global risk-off sentiment. The national price of 24-karat gold (99.9% purity) declined to ₹1,58,890 per 10 grams, shedding ₹490 from Monday’s ₹1,59,380. The 22-karat rate (91.6% purity) eased to ₹1,45,650 per 10 grams, down ₹450 from Monday’s ₹1,46,100. The 18-karat price (75% purity) slipped to ₹1,19,170 per 10 grams, retreating ₹370 from Monday’s ₹1,19,540. On a per-gram basis, 24K gold now stands at ₹15,889, 22K at ₹14,565 and 18K at ₹11,917.
