Silver Rates Hold Steady Across India Amid Global Uncertainties

Mumbai, April 6: Silver rates in India held steady on Monday even as concerns gripped global markets after fresh geopolitical developments by US President Donald Trump. At the moment, silver is being quoted at ₹2,500 per 10 grams in most parts of India while it remained higher in South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Telangana at ₹2,550 per 10 grams.
Rates across metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Ahmedabad and Vadodara were quoted at ₹2,500 per 10 grams, while Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala traded higher by ₹50 as has been historically been the case due to strong jewellery demand and cost factors.
Price Correction
This comes after silver prices fell last Thursday, April 2 alongside gold due to profit booking across bullion markets. Silver prices had corrected to ₹250 per gram across most markets while in the South it traded at ₹255 per gram, down ₹5–₹10 across markets. This move was attributed to investors booking profits after rallying over ₹50 early this year even as geopolitical tensions buoyed safe-haven demand.
US President Donald Trump had last night extended Iran sanctions by another 24 hours to allow Iran to reopen Strait of Hormuz raising concerns over volatile energy markets. Safe-haven demand typically boosts prices for precious metals like gold and silver but that hasn’t been the case for silver just yet as traders are also watching it’s response as an industrial commodity.
Silver Reax More Sharp To Trump
Market participants note that silver tends to react more sharply than gold to shifts in global sentiment, particularly when equity markets and crude oil prices fluctuate. For now, the metal appears to be consolidating after last week’s decline, with investors closely tracking geopolitical cues and macroeconomic signals for the next directional trigger.
On April 2, silver rate fell alongside gold in India after US President Donald Trump addressed the nation Wednesday night threatening Iran with “extreme hardship” if it did not stop provocations against the US in the next couple of weeks. Amongst Trump’s threats were attacks on Iran’s energy and oil platforms.
