Mumbai, May 7: Silver prices in India moved higher for a second consecutive session on Thursday, with the national rate for the white metal advancing to ₹2,700 per 10 grams — a gain of +₹50 over Wednesday’s rate of ₹2,650 per 10 grams, as per the per-gram rate of ₹270, up ₹5 from Wednesday’s ₹265.

The move builds on Wednesday’s recovery, which had itself marked a rebound after a brief mid-week consolidation, and puts silver’s domestic price trajectory firmly in sync with the broader global precious metals rally being driven by a softer dollar, cautious risk appetite and the ongoing Middle East peace uncertainty.

At the kilogram level, silver is now quoted at ₹2,70,000 — up ₹5,000 from Wednesday’s ₹2,65,000 — underscoring a meaningful and consistent directional move that has re-energised sentiment among bullion dealers and retail investors alike. The Thursday advance signals that silver is no longer simply trailing gold’s coattails but is finding its own demand drivers, with industrial consumption forecasts, solar panel manufacturing momentum and rising jewellery offtake in South India all contributing to the metal’s firmer tone heading into the weekend.

City-Wise Silver Rates -10 Grams: Thursday vs Wednesday

Across India’s major bullion markets, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala continue to command a modest premium over the national benchmark, with 10 grams of silver quoted at ₹2,750 in each of these three cities on Thursday — up ₹50 from Wednesday’s ₹2,700, maintaining the consistent ₹50 premium these markets have carried over their peers, driven by localised jewellers’ association pricing norms and structurally stronger retail demand, particularly from Kerala’s sizeable silver jewellery and silverware segment.

Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad are all uniformly priced at ₹2,700 per 10 grams on Thursday — each city gaining ₹50 from Wednesday’s ₹2,650 — with no intra-city divergence recorded among these seven markets, reflecting the tightly harmonised pricing that has become a hallmark of India’s bullion distribution network in recent sessions.

The uniform ₹50 rise across all ten tracked cities, regardless of geography or local demand intensity, points to a clean, macro-driven price move rather than any localised supply or demand shock — a pattern consistent with silver tracking global spot prices with minimal basis distortion on Thursday.

Gold Prices

Gold prices in India extended their recovery for a second consecutive session on Thursday, building on Wednesday’s strong rebound as global risk sentiment stayed buoyant, the dollar remained under modest pressure, and domestic demand from jewellers ahead of the wedding season added a layer of underlying firmness to the market. The national benchmark for 24-karat gold stands at ₹1,52,460 per 10 grams, a gain of +₹1,150 over Wednesday’s ₹1,51,310; the 22-karat rate is quoted at ₹1,39,750, up +₹1,050; and the 18-karat rate is priced at ₹1,14,340, advancing +₹860 — all three purities having fully recouped their recent two-session consolidation and signalling renewed bullish momentum.

The simultaneous rally in both gold and silver on Thursday points to a broad-based precious metals bid, with safe-haven demand, a softer greenback and geopolitical uncertainty around Iran’s response to the US peace proposal keeping buyers firmly in control across the entire bullion complex.
