New Delhi, Sept 7: Silver prices in India held firm on Monday, with the national rate for the metal standing at ₹250 per gram, ₹2,500 per 10 grams, and ₹2,50,000 per kilogram. The steady quote comes as precious metals broadly consolidated at the start of the week, with dealers describing trading conditions as calm heading into the first full session after the weekend. Compared with gold’s sharper recent swings, silver’s flat opening underscores the metal’s relatively steadier footing even during periods when broader sentiment in bullion markets remains mixed.

Silver price in India is determined largely by international prices, which move in either direction depending on global industrial demand, investment flows and mining supply. Currency movement also plays a part: if the rupee weakens against the dollar while international silver prices hold firm, the metal tends to become costlier in India. Monday’s steady opening suggests global spot silver held on to its recent levels overnight, with international markets showing little directional bias during the early Asian trading session.

Dealers said the calm start to the week follows a period of mixed movement in precious metals, with both gold and silver largely rangebound as investors await fresh macroeconomic and geopolitical cues. Traders noted that the absence of any major overnight development left silver without a clear catalyst to move sharply in either direction, a pattern consistent with the start of a new trading week when volumes tend to build gradually.

Market participants added that retail investors continue to treat silver as an accessible entry point into precious metals, given its lower per-unit cost compared with gold. Analysts noted that silver’s steadier day-to-day moves compared with gold continue to make it an appealing option for investors seeking exposure to precious metals without sharper volatility. Some dealers also pointed to a modest pickup in industrial buying interest, particularly from the electronics and solar-panel manufacturing segments, as a factor lending quiet support to prices even during otherwise flat sessions. Rates are updated daily based on data sourced from precious metals dealers across the country, and buyers are advised to confirm exact pricing before heading to a jewellery or bullion counter.

City-Wise Silver Rates Today

Silver rates held largely uniform across India’s major cities on Monday, with most centres pricing the metal at the national average. Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad are all quoting silver at ₹2,500 per 10 grams, ₹25,000 per 100 grams and ₹2,50,000 per kilogram. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala continue to command a modest premium over the rest of the country, with silver priced at ₹2,550 per 10 grams, ₹25,500 per 100 grams and ₹2,55,000 per kilogram in these three cities.

On a per-kilogram basis, Monday’s rates work out to ₹2,55,000 in Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala, and ₹2,50,000 in the remaining seven cities tracked. Retail buyers are reminded that these are indicative bullion rates, and actual prices at silverware and jewellery counters will typically include additional making charges and applicable GST on top of the base metal value.

Market watchers said Monday’s steady session suggests silver has settled into a narrow band to start the week, even as broader sentiment remains sensitive to global cues. With gold also trading in a relatively tight range, dealers said the coming sessions will show whether silver continues to track gold’s moves closely or reverts to being driven primarily by industrial demand, as it has at various points this year.

Historically, silver has traded at a small fraction of gold’s price per gram, and Monday’s steady session did little to change that relationship. Analysts tracking the gold-silver ratio said the current calm is consistent with a market waiting for a clearer directional trigger, noting that sharp swings in geopolitical or macroeconomic sentiment tend to pull both metals in the same direction, while calmer sessions typically see the two decouple again.

Jewellery Stocks Today

Shares of jewellery companies with a meaningful presence in silverware and studded silver jewellery were broadly higher in mid-morning trade on Monday, with three of the four stocks in the group advancing while Vaibhav Global was the lone decliner. PN Gadgil Jewellers led the gainers with a sharp rise of over 3%, followed by Senco Gold, which climbed more than 2%. Silgo Retail also posted a solid gain, while Vaibhav Global slipped modestly after opening lower than its previous close. Trading was still underway through the morning session at the time of writing.

PN Gadgil Jewellers’ order book on Monday morning showed sell-side interest slightly ahead of buy-side demand even as the stock extended its climb, a pattern often seen in fast-moving counters where profit-booking accompanies a rally. Senco Gold’s intraday chart showed a steady grind higher through the morning after a firmer open, while Silgo Retail’s gains built gradually following an early dip. Vaibhav Global, by contrast, spent much of the session recovering from a sharp opening decline, with its order book showing sellers still holding a modest edge over buyers.

Market watchers said Monday’s mostly positive performance among silver-linked jewellery counters mirrors the steadiness seen in the underlying metal, with investors continuing to treat these stocks as a proxy for both bullion demand and broader consumer sentiment. Dealers expect silver’s near-term path to stay closely tied to gold’s movement and global cues through the week, with a quiet data calendar likely to keep both metals within familiar ranges in the absence of a fresh trigger.
