New Delhi, Oct 22: Here are five stocks in focus on Thursday, from Eternal’s 92 per cent profit jump to PC Jeweller’s results to a ₹770 crore radar order for Bharat Electronics to steady growth at Rajratan Global Wire to strong revenue surge at KEI Industries. Here’s what’s driving each stock and what to track through the session.
Eternal (ETERNAL)
Eternal, which owns Zomato and Blinkit, reported a 92.3% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹1,250 crore in the September quarter, compared with ₹650 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations rose 77.6% to ₹24,138 crore from ₹13,590 crore. The results were announced after market hours on Wednesday and came in below street expectations.
Blinkit was once again the key growth driver for the company. Its net order value increased 79.3% to ₹20,940 crore. The company also added 308 stores, taking its total store count to 2,751. Blinkit’s adjusted EBITDA stood at ₹184 crore, compared with a loss of ₹156 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Eternal’s food delivery segment recorded 21.5% growth in net order value to ₹11,445 crore. Overall adjusted EBITDA rose 197% to ₹666 crore.
The board also approved the transfer of its going-out business in India to its wholly owned subsidiary, Zomato Entertainment Private Limited, through a slump sale. How the stock trades after the results missed expectations, along with management’s commentary on margins, will be key factors to watch.
PC Jeweller (PCJEWELLER)
PC Jeweller reported a 58% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹331.1 crore in the second quarter, compared with ₹209.5 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue rose 27.8% to ₹1,054.5 crore from ₹825.3 crore. Revenue for the first half of the financial year stood at ₹1,932 crore.
The company has repaid its dues to all 14 consortium banks and is now debt-free. Operating EBITDA grew 74% to ₹310 crore, while operating profit after tax (PAT), excluding other income, more than doubled to ₹299 crore.
With the company no longer having to pay interest on its debt, the reduction in interest costs could support its bottom line in the second half of the financial year.
Bharat Electronics (BEL)
The Ministry of Defence has awarded Bharat Electronics Limited an order worth approximately ₹770 crore to supply Improved Low Level Light Weight Radars (LLLR-I) to the Indian Army. The order was signed in New Delhi on Wednesday in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
According to the ministry, the radars can identify and track targets ranging from fighter aircraft to mini and micro drones. They can also help rank aerial targets according to their threat levels. Several MSMEs and domestic industry players are expected to benefit from the order.
This follows an order worth ₹1,950 crore placed with BEL in March for mountain radars. Investors will look for details on delivery timelines and any additional orders during the trading session.
Rajratan Global Wire (RAJRATAN)
Rajratan Global Wire reported a 17.5% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹24.14 crore, compared with ₹20.6 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue rose 26.1% to ₹370.8 crore from ₹294.2 crore.
The company manufactures bead wire, a type of high-carbon steel wire used in tyre manufacturing. Standalone net profit grew 34.3% to ₹16.76 crore.
The company will host an analyst call at 4 pm on Thursday, when it is expected to provide further details about its exports and Chennai plant.
KEI Industries (KEI)
KEI Industries reported a 29% year-on-year increase in profit after tax to ₹262.4 crore in the second quarter. Revenue rose 38.5% to ₹3,776.4 crore.
Sales of wires and cables, including exports, stood at ₹3,639 crore, while export sales increased 7.27%. However, PAT margin declined to 6.95% from 7.46% in the year-ago quarter, as profit growth lagged revenue growth.
The company’s order book stood at ₹5,185 crore. Management commentary on margins and demand during the trading session will be important for investors to watch.
