New Delhi, Oct 8: Here are five stocks in focus on Thursday, from a 31 per cent revenue jump for Senco Gold to 28 per cent growth for PC Jeweller to a bayside promenade at Bandra Bay backed by Godrej Properties to a floating solar tie-up for Tata Power to a 60:40 optical joint venture for Dixon Technologies. Here are some key points to note from today’s session.
Senco Gold (SENCO)
Revenue at Senco Gold increased by 31 per cent year-on-year in Q2FY27. Retail revenue growth stood at 29 per cent, driven by like-for-like (LFL) store growth of 19 per cent. This is around half of the 38 per cent LFL growth the company achieved in the previous quarter.
In H1, the company managed to achieve a topline of over Rs 5,000 crore, its highest ever. TTM sales have also touched Rs 10,000 crore, which is the lower end of its FY27 guidance. Management had guided for revenue to increase to between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 10,500 crore in FY27.
The growth rate is lower than the 60 per cent growth reported in the previous quarter. Management had also indicated that Q3 would be a soft quarter due to seasonal factors. The company had mentioned strong advance gold bookings in its Q1 update, so it remains to be seen how this translates into performance in the coming quarter.
PC Jeweller (PCJEWELLER)
PC Jeweller released its business update today, reporting a 28 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue in Q2FY27. The company attributed the growth to strong consumer demand. Titan, which is considered the leader in the space, reported around 21 per cent growth in its jewellery business in Q2. This puts PC Jeweller’s performance broadly in line with what other companies in the sector have been reporting.
As these are only business updates, no profit figures have been provided. We will have to wait for the actual results to assess how margins have performed. Gold prices have remained high throughout the year, which can support revenue growth for these companies. This is an important factor to keep in mind while assessing their growth rates.
The actual results will provide a clearer picture of where the companies stand. Jewellery stocks tend to react to such business updates, so PC Jeweller is likely to remain in focus at the opening bell.
Godrej Properties (GODREJPROP)
Mumbai’s BMC, along with Godrej Properties and RC Group, has launched the first phase of a landscaped bayside walkway at Bandra Bay.
Bandra Bay has seen a surge in developers looking to establish residential projects in the area, with around 8 million sq ft of residential and retail space being developed by various developers. Godrej Properties, being one of the developers in the region, could benefit from a well-built public walkway.
Homes on the waterfront at Bandra Bay have been selling at a premium of 15-20 per cent compared with other luxury homes in Mumbai, according to reports. The development does not have a direct impact on the company’s bottom line but could help strengthen its image. Further details will need to be monitored.
Tata Power (TATAPOWER)
Tata Power has partnered with Norway-based Ocean Sun to bring membrane-based floating solar technology to India.
Floating solar sits on reservoirs and other water bodies instead of land, which helps where large plots are hard to find. India has plenty of dams, reservoirs and irrigation canals that could host such plants. Backers also say covering water cuts evaporation. Ocean Sun’s design places the panels on a thin flexible membrane that rests on the water, rather than on rigid floats. Investors will wait to hear about capacity, sites and the investment involved.
Dixon Technologies (DIXON)
Dixon Technologies has entered into a joint venture agreement with Gemtek Technology, with Dixon holding 60 per cent and Gemtek 40 per cent. The JV will manufacture and supply optical transceivers, including SFP and BOSA products, and other mutually agreed telecom products in India.
Optical transceivers are used in broadband, telecom and data centre networks, and Gemtek says its range runs from 1G to 1.6T. The venture sits under Dixon’s subsidiary Dixon Electroconnect and remains subject to definitive agreements and approvals. For Dixon, it adds a components line to its contract manufacturing work, alongside tie-ups with Inventec and Longcheer. Dixon first announced the venture in June, when its shares rose 1.74 per cent on the day. Investors will wait to see when production begins.
