Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles posted record Q4 FY26 sales, with steady stock gains reflecting confidence in sustained demand.

Mumbai, April 1: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited reported total sales of 201,368 units in Q4 FY26, rising sharply from 146,999 units a year earlier.
It was not just a good quarter. It was a culmination of momentum that had been building through the year. The company crossed the 200,000 mark in a single quarter for the first time, a number that reflects both demand recovery and deeper product acceptance.
Domestic volumes remained the backbone, growing 36% year on year. At the same time, electric vehicles continued to gather pace. EV sales rose 69% in the quarter, signalling that adoption is moving beyond early buyers into more mainstream segments, as per an exchange disclosure.
For the full year, the company delivered over 641,000 vehicles, its highest ever. EV volumes crossed 92,000 units.
Stock Market Snapshot
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles share price edged higher following the update, though the move remained contained.
As of 3:30 pm IST on April 1, 2026, the stock was trading at ₹303.40, up ₹7.20 or 2.43%, according to exchange data. The stock held within a narrow band through the session, suggesting steady but not aggressive buying.
The Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles share price behaviour reflects a familiar dynamic. Strong operational numbers are being acknowledged, but not chased. Investors appear to be weighing sustainability of growth rather than reacting to a single quarter.
Portfolio Depth And Segment Mix Driving Growth
SUVs such as Nexon and Punch continued to lead, particularly in the second half of the year. Alongside, the company’s multi-powertrain strategy is beginning to show results. CNG and EV options are expanding the addressable market, giving customers more flexibility across price points and fuel choices.
International business, though smaller in scale, also contributed. Volumes crossed 10,000 units, supported by a re-entry into select markets including South Africa.
Conclusion
FY26 appears to be a defining year for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. Record volumes, rising EV penetration and a broader product mix have reshaped its growth profile.
Yet, the stock’s reaction on April 1, 2026 suggests restraint. The gains were there, but measured.
