Mumbai, July 23: NTPC Green Energy and Wakefit Innovations were among the most actively traded stocks by volume on the NSE on Thursday, with both counters advancing while Vodafone Idea and PC Jeweller declined. NTPC Green Energy jumped after earnings, while Wakefit Innovations extended its rally. Vodafone Idea fell 0.96% and PC Jeweller declined 1.72% as investors weighed funding and debt-reduction developments.

Vodafone Idea Limited (down 0.96%)

Vodafone Idea shares declined on Thursday after partially recovering in the previous two sessions, with investors weighing concerns over rising network equipment costs against the telecom operator’s plans to accelerate its 5G rollout.

Network vendors are preparing to raise equipment prices amid rising chip and component costs, all thanks to the global surge in artificial intelligence investments. The potential increase in expenses comes as rivals have already made significant progress in deploying 5G services across the country.

Vodafone Idea’s proposed 35,000-crore debt fundraising is expected to provide much-needed funding for its network expansion. The company plans to use the capital to strengthen its 4G infrastructure and accelerate the rollout of 5G services.

Reports suggest the proposal is yet to receive final approval from the company’s lending consortium, with banks seeking additional safeguards and changes to the business plan. Any delay could push back the infusion of funds at a time when the company is under pressure to step up investments.

PC Jeweller Limited (down 1.72%)

Shares of PC Jeweller fell on Thursday, extending the decline from the previous session, after the jewellery retailer’s latest debt repayment update.

The company said it had repaid another bank, taking the number of lenders it has settled with to five out of 14.

The company’s board approved a proposed 1,000-crore QIP last Thursday. Separately, HRTI Private sold more than 1.32 crore shares on Friday.

Consolidated revenue rose 21% year-on-year in the June quarter, while the company has made substantial progress in cutting its debt burden, having repaid more than 90% of its outstanding bank borrowings since reaching a settlement with lenders.

PC Jeweller expects to clear its remaining bank debt during the current quarter.

NTPC Green Energy Limited (up 7.62%)

Shares of NTPC Green Energy rose on Thursday after the renewable energy company reported a strong set of June-quarter results, with a sharp increase in revenue, profit and EBITDA.

The stock gained as the company reported a 38.3% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to 304.8 crore for the quarter, compared with 220.5 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations jumped 62.7% to 1,106.9 crore from 680.2 crore in the year-ago period.

NTPC Green Energy’s EBITDA increased 63.8% year-on-year to 988.7 crore from 603.6 crore. The EBITDA margin remained broadly stable at 89.3%, compared with 88.7% in the corresponding quarter last year, indicating strong operating performance alongside the sharp growth in revenue.

The strong quarterly performance comes as investors continue to track the company’s growth prospects amid India’s accelerating renewable energy transition. NTPC Green Energy, a subsidiary of state-owned power major NTPC, is expanding its clean energy portfolio as demand for renewable power and investment in the sector increases.

Wakefit Innovations Limited (up 8.56%)

Wakefit Innovations, which is a D2C home solutions company, manufacturing and selling mattresses, furniture, and home accessories through its online platform, rallied today. It has risen 16% in a week, and 25% in a month. This year so far it has fallen 19%.
