Mumbai, November 6: Shares of PC Jeweller, Vodafone Idea, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) and YES Bank were among the most actively traded stocks on the NSE by volume on Friday, November 6. PC Jeweller attracted buying interest amid Dhanteras-led activity in jewellery stocks, while Vodafone Idea declined after its recent gains following an AI partnership with PwC India. Tata Teleservices surged for a third consecutive session, while YES Bank extended its winning streak to three sessions as investors tracked developments in the Rs 8,415 crore AT-1 bond dispute.

PC Jeweller Limited (up 0.77%)

PC Jeweller shares advanced on Friday as jewellery stocks witnessed buying interest on Dhanteras, an auspicious occasion when consumers traditionally purchase gold, silver and other precious metals.

Other jewellery counters, including Titan Company, Senco Gold, Sky Gold and Diamonds, also attracted investor attention amid expectations of stronger consumer spending during the festive and wedding seasons.

Market participants are now looking for signs that the anticipated festive-season demand will translate into higher sales volumes and improved earnings for organised jewellery retailers. The December quarter is particularly important for the sector, with Dhanteras, Diwali and the subsequent wedding season accounting for a substantial share of annual jewellery purchases.

Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi, marks the beginning of the five-day Diwali festivities. Purchasing gold, silver, jewellery, coins and other valuables on the occasion is considered auspicious, making it one of the biggest annual sales events for jewellery retailers across India.

Vodafone Idea Limited (down 1.86%)

Vodafone Idea shares fell on Friday after rising in the previous session on the announcement of an artificial intelligence partnership with PwC India. The collaboration is aimed at developing and scaling AI-powered solutions for businesses across sectors, as the telecom operator seeks to strengthen its digital and enterprise services business.

The partnership is part of Vodafone Idea’s newly launched ‘Vi Intelligence’ initiative, unveiled on Wednesday, to drive AI adoption across its operations, customer services and enterprise offerings. At the centre of the initiative will be the Vi Intelligence Lab, which will combine the telecom operator’s digital infrastructure with PwC India’s expertise in artificial intelligence and enterprise transformation.

Under the arrangement, PwC India will set up a dedicated Centre of Excellence team at Vodafone Idea’s Mumbai premises. The team will work alongside the telecom company to identify business requirements, develop AI applications and take viable solutions from incubation to large-scale deployment.

The lab will bring together AI specialists, startups, research institutions and businesses to explore applications across consumer-facing services, enterprise operations and internal processes. The collaboration will also seek to help companies incorporate AI into existing workflows, with the objective of improving productivity and operational efficiency.

Vodafone Idea said the lab’s work would be guided by three focus areas: agentic AI, assistive AI, and sovereign and responsible AI. These areas are intended to support the development of solutions that go beyond conventional automation, enabling businesses to deploy more intelligent systems and increasingly autonomous processes.

The initiative will also focus on enhancing customer engagement and service delivery, besides using AI to transform processes across different business functions. Workforce training and capability-building will form another part of the programme, with the partners looking to improve AI skills and encourage wider adoption of the technology.

For Vodafone Idea, the move represents an effort to broaden its enterprise proposition beyond traditional connectivity services by offering businesses AI-led digital solutions. The partnership with PwC India is expected to provide the technology and consulting support needed to develop these offerings and take them to customers across industries.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (up 14.55%)

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) surged on Friday extending its rise to a third session with the stock having risen 17% over a week. The stock has risen 18% over a month and is down 18.7% this year. Over a year the stock is down 26%.

The firm provides wire line voice, data, and managed telecom services to enterprise customers in Maharashtra and Goa.

Yes Bank Limited (up 0.37%)

YES Bank extended its gains for the third consecutive session on Friday as investors tracked developments surrounding the reinstatement of Rs 8,415 crore worth of additional tier-1 (AT-1) bonds written off by the lender in March 2020.

Investor attention remains focused on the issue after a report on Wednesday said the YES Bank AT-1 Bond Holders Association had sought clarity on the payment schedule following the expiry of a deadline set by a debenture trustee. Bondholders are seeking a definitive timeline for the repayment of their investments after the Supreme Court ruled in their favour.

The dispute stems from the Supreme Court’s October 15 judgment dismissing appeals filed by YES Bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Centre against a Bombay High Court order that had struck down the lender’s March 2020 decision to write off the Rs 8,415 crore AT-1 bonds. The ruling has revived expectations of compensation or reinstatement for affected bondholders, although the mechanism and timeline for implementing the judgment remain uncertain.
