Trent and SBI Lead Nifty Charge on Monday

Mumbai, April 20: The Nifty traded with gains on Monday as Trent and SBI took charge. Metals as well as financial services played spoilsport on Monday with Hindalco and Jio Financial sinking on the day.

Here are the top seven gainers on the Nifty 50:

Trent: The stock opened at ₹4,150 and traded between ₹4,277 (high) and ₹4,127.70 (low) before closing at ₹4,235.10, up 3.10% from the previous close of ₹4,107.70. Buying support was witnessed at all levels with Trent recording a high volume of 22.28 lakh shares worth ₹940.80 crore changing hands on the bourses. 

JSW Steel: It opened at ₹1,241.10 and traded between ₹1,279 (high) and ₹1,233 (low) during the day before settling at ₹1,275, up 2.80% from the previous close of ₹1,240.30. About 46 lakh shares worth ₹584 crore were traded on the bourses. 

SBI: The stock opened at ₹1,080.30 and traded between ₹1,120.95 (high) and ₹1,075.85 (low) during the day before settling at ₹1,104, up 2.20% from the previous close of ₹1,080.25. Buying support was witnessed at all levels with the PSU bank recording a high volume of 3.12 crore shares worth ₹3,459 crore changing hands on the bourses. 

Asian Paints: It opened at ₹2,470 and traded between ₹2,523.80 (high) and ₹2,456.50 (low) during the day before settling at ₹2,510, up 1.87% from the previous close of ₹2,464. About 12 lakh shares worth ₹301.23 crore were traded on the bourses.

NTPC: It opened at ₹393 and traded between ₹400.85 (high) and ₹390.65 (low) during the day before settling at ₹398.35, up 1.21% from the previous close of ₹393.60. Buying support was witnessed at all levels with the PSU power major recording a high volume of 99 lakh shares worth ₹393.75 crore changing hands on the bourses. 

 Grasim Industries: The stock opened at ₹2,730.50 and traded between ₹2,771.90 (high) and ₹2,697.30 (low) during the day before settling at ₹2,752, up 1.16% from the previous close of ₹2,720.50. About 7 lakh shares worth ₹192.52 crore were traded on the bourses.

Bajaj Finance: It opened at ₹908.25 and traded between ₹920.90 (high) and ₹898 (low) during the day before settling at ₹916.15, up 0.87% from the previous close of ₹908.25. Buying support was witnessed at all levels with the NBFC major recording a high volume of 61.84 lakh shares worth ₹565.06 crore changing hands on the bourses.

 Turning to the losers, Jio Financial Services: It opened at ₹242 and traded between ₹242.01 (high) and ₹234.50 (low) during the day before settling at ₹236.60, down 2.98% from the previous close of ₹243.86. Selling pressure was witnessed at all levels with the stock recording a high volume of 3.84 crore shares worth ₹913.51 crore changing hands on the bourses.

Hindalco Industries: The stock opened at ₹1,031 and traded between ₹1,034 (high) and ₹1,011.40 (low) during the day before settling at ₹1,013.10, down 2.49% from the previous close of ₹1,039. About 42.86 lakh shares worth ₹436.30 crore were traded on the bourses.

L&T: It opened at ₹4,100 and traded between ₹4,130 (high) and ₹4,024 (low) during the day before settling at ₹4,039, down 1.39% from the previous close of ₹4,096.10. Selling pressure was witnessed at all levels with the stock recording a high volume of 35.45 lakh shares worth ₹1,441.31 crore changing hands on the bourses.

HDFC Life Insurance: The stock opened at ₹617 and traded between ₹617 (high) and ₹605.35 (low) during the day before settling at ₹608.75, down 1.25% from the previous close of ₹616.45. Nearly 49.81 lakh shares worth ₹303.96 crore changed hands on the bourses.
