US markets close the day in red; Asian markets start the day strongly in green

US markets ended the day in red yesterday, 28th May, 2025. Dow Jones ended the day, down by 244.95 points or 0.58%. S&P 500 ended the day, down by 32.99 points or 0.56%. Nasdaq ended the day, down by 98.23 points or 0.51%.

Court blocks Trump tariff orders

US markets ended the day in red after US Federal Reserve warned that the risk of a recession has increased for the US economy. Later in the evening the news came that US Court of International trade has blocked US President Donald Trump’s tariff orders. The court ruled that the US President does not have the authority to impose these tariffs. The US Congress has the authority to take decisions on tariffs. Futures on US stock indices jumped after this court order.

Asian markets have opened strongly in green

Asian markets have opened strongly in green after the US court order. At 8:40 a.m. Indian time, 29th May, 2025 Nikkei 225 is up by 633.3 points or 1.68%. Hang Seng is up by 101.36 points or 0.44%. Shanghai Composite is up by 23.32 points or 0.70%. Kospi is up by 46.20 points or 1.73%.

Indian markets are likely to open the day in green today on the back of these positive cues. Yesterday, Indian markets closed the day in red. Nifty 50 closed the day, down by 73.75 points or 0.30%. Sensex closed the day, down by 239.31 points or 0.29%.
