Mumbai, April 6: Wipro Ltd has secured a multi-year transformation engagement with Olam Group, a deal that stands out not just for its size but for how it is structured.

At its core, the agreement combines services with acquisition. Wipro will take over Olam’s IT and digital arm, Mindsprint, integrating it into its own operations. The eight-year engagement is expected to exceed $1 billion in value, with a committed spend of $800 million, according to a company disclosure.

There is also a clear shift visible here. Consulting-led, AI-enabled, domain-specific. Less about volume. More about integration.

Stock Market Snapshot

Wipro Ltd share price edged up 0.94% to ₹196.75 as of 11:11 IST on April 6, 2026, compared with ₹194.91 at the previous close, according to exchange data.

The movement was positive, though restrained. The stock did see early strength, touching ₹201.18, before giving up some gains. That pattern often reflects how the market reads such announcements.

The deal is large. That part is clear. But execution will stretch across years. Investors appear to be acknowledging the opportunity while staying mindful of delivery timelines and integration risks.

Agriculture and Supply Chain Now Move to the Forefront

What stands out in this engagement is the sector focus. Olam operates at scale across the global food and agri ecosystem, with presence in over 60 countries and a workforce of around 40,000.

By stepping into this partnership, Wipro deepens its exposure to agriculture-linked value chains, an area where digital transformation is still evolving.

Mindsprint plays a key role here. With over 3,200 professionals and domain-specific platforms across procurement, trading and farm management, it brings operating context, not just technical capability.

Once the acquisition closes, expected by June 2026, Wipro does not start from zero. It steps into an already embedded system and scales from there.

Company Background

Wipro Ltd has been repositioning itself over recent years. The emphasis has gradually shifted towards consulting-led engagements, supported by AI-driven platforms and industry-specific solutions.

Its global presence spans more than 65 countries, with a workforce exceeding 230,000. Large transformation deals have become central to its growth narrative, particularly those that combine technology with operational influence.

Conclusion

The Olam engagement adds another layer to Wipro’s evolving strategy. Larger deals, deeper integration and sharper industry focus.
