Mumbai, June 4: Gold prices in India were unchanged for a fourth consecutive session on Thursday, with the national price of 24-karat gold (99.9% purity) holding firm at ₹1,56,210 per 10 grams — identical to Wednesday’s close. The 22-karat rate (91.6% purity) held steady at ₹1,43,190 per 10 grams and the 18-karat price (75% purity) also remained flat at ₹1,17,160 per 10 grams. On a per-gram basis, 24K gold stands at ₹15,621, 22K at ₹14,319 and 18K at ₹11,716.
Thursday’s stillness is remarkable in the context of the week’s macro backdrop. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee concludes its three-day meeting on Friday, with the policy rate decision due at noon — an event that typically generates some repositioning in financial markets, including precious metals. Most analysts expect the MPC to hold rates, which would broadly support gold’s appeal as a non-yielding asset if accompanied by dovish commentary hinting at future cuts.

Meanwhile, US-Iran ceasefire negotiations remain unresolved, with conflicting signals from Washington and Tehran continuing to keep geopolitical risk alive. These two crosscurrents — one domestic, one global — appear to be holding the market in suspension, with neither buyers nor sellers willing to push prices in either direction ahead of Friday’s twin catalysts of the RBI decision and any fresh West Asia developments.
