Mumbai, October 26: Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged across major Indian cities on Monday, October 26. Petrol was priced at Rs 102.12 per litre in Delhi, Rs 111.21 in Mumbai, Rs 113.51 in Kolkata and Rs 107.76 in Chennai. Diesel rates stood at Rs 95.20 per litre in Delhi, Rs 97.83 in Mumbai, Rs 99.82 in Kolkata and Rs 99.55 in Chennai.

Crude oil prices declined in early trade on Monday, October 26, retreating from near six-month highs reached last week, although continued attacks on Saudi Arabia kept concerns over global supplies elevated.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 2.2% to $101 per barrel while Brent crude futures declined 2.1% to $114.3 per barrel. The decline followed a sharp rally on Friday, when both benchmarks gained nearly $3 amid concerns over potential supply disruptions.

Brent crude gained around 6% over the previous week, while WTI advanced 2.3%. The rally was fuelled by Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia, with the group claiming strikes on the kingdom’s airport and oil facilities over the weekend. Saudi Arabia said it had intercepted additional missiles and drones on Sunday, while partially resuming operations at its main airport following earlier damage.

The latest pullback offers some relief to oil-importing countries such as India, where elevated crude prices can increase import costs, put pressure on the rupee and add to inflationary risks. However, prices remain high, leaving markets vulnerable to further volatility as investors assess geopolitical developments and the risk of supply disruptions.

Separately, Saudi Arabia plans to begin storing crude oil in Singapore in the second half of 2027 to strengthen supply-chain resilience. In the US, the Department of Energy authorised the release of 400,000 barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to address a supply disruption at a Louisiana refinery.
