Mumbai, June 4: Indian equity indices delivered a mixed performance on Thursday, with broader market benchmarks and several thematic indices ending in positive territory, while IT, metals and select strategy-based indices closed lower.

The broader market remained constructive, supported by gains across midcap and smallcap segments. Nifty Microcap 250 emerged as the strongest performer among broad market indices, rising 1.03%, while Nifty Midcap 100 gained 0.70% and Nifty Smallcap 500 advanced 0.75%.

Consumer-linked sectors led sectoral gains. Nifty Consumer Durables rose 1.31%, followed by Nifty Midsmall Healthcare at 0.81% and Nifty FMCG at 0.68%.
However, technology and metals underperformed. Nifty IT fell 0.42%, while Nifty Metal declined 0.58%.

Among thematic and strategy indices, Nifty India Defence gained 1.24%, Nifty Capital Markets rose 1.12%, and Nifty Midsmall India Consumption advanced 1.02%.
Transportation and logistics, energy and quality-focused indices also registered notable gains.

On the downside, Nifty50 Shariah declined 0.52%, while Nifty Top 10 Equal Weight lost 0.28%.

Conclusion
