US President Donald Trump has increased the H1- B visa fee from $2000- $5000 to $100,000. This visa fee will be applicable on new visa applications only. It will not be applicable on H1-B visas that have already been issued. The higher visa fee will be there for 12 months. If not extended after 12 months, it will expire. 70% of H1-B visas issued by US annually, go to Indians, especially to the employees of Indian IT companies. So stocks of Indian IT may see some adverse impact today. Due to their heavy weight in benchmark indices, Indian equity indices may come under pressure today. The lower GST rates will also come into effect from today.
