Mumbai, July 22: Trading remained action-packed on the NSE on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, with investors actively buying and selling stocks across banking, telecom, financial services and mid-cap counters. Vodafone Idea, PC Jeweller and Bandhan Bank emerged as the day’s most actively traded stocks by volume, while Yes Bank, Muthoot Microfin, Trident and BlueStone Jewellery & Lifestyle also remained firmly on traders’ radar.

The session once again showed that investors were chasing individual opportunities rather than taking broad sectoral calls. Some heavily traded stocks rallied sharply, while others came under intense selling pressure, making it a day of contrasting moves across the market.

Where Did Investors Focus?

Vodafone Idea retained its place among the market’s busiest counters, with nearly 20 crore shares changing hands during the session. PC Jeweller also continued to witness exceptionally high trading volumes, although the stock finished lower as selling pressure outweighed buying.

The biggest talking point of the day was Bandhan Bank. The stock saw heavy trading as it tumbled more than 18%, making it one of the sharpest movers among actively traded counters. Such a combination of high volumes and a steep price decline often reflects a strong reaction from investors to company-specific developments.

On the positive side, Muthoot Microfin gained over 7%, while Trident and Yes Bank ended the session with modest gains. Outside the top volume leaders, BlueStone Jewellery climbed more than 10%, and CRAMC also posted a strong gain, suggesting buying interest remained healthy in select mid-cap names.

Why Active Stocks Matter

The list of most active equities gives a real-time picture of where the market’s attention is. Stocks that witness unusually high trading volumes often do so because of earnings announcements, corporate updates, institutional trades or a sudden shift in investor sentiment. While heavy volumes alone don’t reveal whether a stock is a buying or selling opportunity, they often signal where the market is reacting the most.

Conclusion

Wednesday’s trading session highlighted a market driven by stock-specific action rather than broad-based momentum. Vodafone Idea, PC Jeweller and Bandhan Bank dominated the volume charts, but each told a different story. While Bandhan Bank came under heavy selling pressure, Muthoot Microfin, Trident and BlueStone Jewellery & Lifestyle attracted fresh buying interest. With the earnings season entering a busy phase, stocks witnessing unusually high trading volumes are likely to remain in focus as investors look for the next market-moving opportunity.
