Mumbai, July 14: The Nifty 50 ended Tuesday’s session on a mixed note, with gains in telecom, healthcare and metal stocks offset by weakness across information technology and select financial counters. Bharti Airtel emerged as the top performer in the benchmark index, while HCL Technologies led the decline.

Buying interest remained visible in healthcare names, whereas profit booking weighed on large-cap IT stocks through the session.

Telecom and healthcare stocks provided support to the benchmark, with Bharti Airtel share price leading the gains after rising 1.69%. Apollo Hospitals, Sun Pharmaceutical, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories and Tata Steel also finished in positive territory, reflecting selective buying in defensive and metal counters.

On the downside, information technology stocks faced broad-based selling pressure. HCL Technologies dropped more than 4%, making it the worst-performing Nifty constituent of the day. Shriram Finance and HDFC Life also witnessed notable declines, while TVS Motor Company and State Bank of India rounded out the top five losers.
