Mumbai, July 14: Sector-specific buying kept the Nifty 50 mixed in early trade on Tuesday, with metal and pharmaceutical stocks attracting fresh interest, while information technology and select financial stocks traded lower. As of 12:05 PM IST, Hindalco Industries emerged as the benchmark’s top gainer, whereas HCLTech led the list of laggards.

The day’s market action highlighted a shift in investor preference, with gains concentrated in commodity-linked and defensive sectors, even as profit booking continued in several IT heavyweights.

Top Nifty 50 Gainers

Metal major Hindalco Industries topped the gainers’ list, rising 2.09% to ₹987.05. Bharti Airtel followed with a 1.75% gain to ₹1,935.10, supported by steady buying interest.

Pharmaceutical stocks also remained in focus. Cipla advanced 1.69% to ₹1,450.80, while Tata Steel climbed 1.31% to ₹189.56. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries rounded out the top five gainers, adding 1.17% to ₹1,943.90.

HDFC Life Insurance declined 2.76% to ₹557.60, while InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) slipped 2.67% to ₹5,090.00. TVS Motor Company lost 2.09%, and Shriram Finance fell 2.04%, completing the list of the benchmark’s five weakest performers.
