Mumbai, July 8: Petrol and diesel prices remained largely unchanged across India’s major metro cities and state capitals on Wednesday, July 8, as state-run oil marketing companies held retail fuel rates steady despite a sharp rise in global crude oil prices today. Oil markets have turned volatile after escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East reignited concerns over potential supply disruptions. While most cities saw no change in prices, Bengaluru was the lone major city to register a marginal increase in both petrol and diesel rates.
Oil prices climbed sharply on Wednesday after the United States launched military strikes against Iran.
US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 2.6% to $72.3 a barrel while Brent crude rose the same at $76.1 a barrel. The rally followed Washington’s decision to reimpose sanctions on Iranian oil sales after Iran was blamed for attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The US military said the strikes targeted Iran in response to the attacks on commercial shipping, including a Qatari liquefied natural gas tanker and a Saudi-flagged crude oil tanker that were damaged near the strategic waterway.
Here’s the latest city-wise petrol and diesel price list for Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and other key locations.
Petrol Prices
Petrol prices remained unchanged across most major Indian cities on Wednesday, with state-run oil marketing companies maintaining existing retail fuel rates despite renewed volatility in global crude oil markets.
According to the latest price revision, petrol continues to retail at Rs 102.12 per litre in New Delhi, Rs 111.21 in Mumbai, Rs 113.51 in Kolkata, and Rs 107.76 in Chennai. Other state capitals, including Hyderabad (Rs 115.69), Jaipur (Rs 113.19), Patna (Rs 113.37) and Thiruvananthapuram (Rs 115.49), also saw no change in prices. Bengaluru was the only major city to record an increase, with petrol prices rising 86 paise to Rs 111.68 per litre.
Retail rates have remained largely stable in recent weeks. The current stability comes even as global crude prices have climbed following escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns over supply disruptions. Market participants will continue to monitor international oil prices and government policy for any impact on domestic fuel rates.
Diesel Prices
Diesel prices remained unchanged across most major Indian cities on Wednesday, with state-run oil marketing companies keeping retail fuel rates steady despite a recent rise in global crude oil prices. Diesel continued to retail at Rs 95.20 per litre in New Delhi, Rs 97.83 in Mumbai, Rs 99.82 in Kolkata, and Rs 99.55 in Chennai. Prices also remained unchanged in key state capitals, including Hyderabad (Rs 103.82), Jaipur (Rs 98.25), Patna (Rs 99.36) and Thiruvananthapuram (Rs 104.40). Bengaluru was the only major city to witness a revision, with diesel prices increasing 79 paise to Rs 99.56 per litre.
Pump prices have largely remained stable in recent weeks. Today saw heightened volatility in global oil markets. The spike in crude prices, driven by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, has raised concerns over potential supply disruptions, with market participants closely watching whether the gains in oil prices eventually translate into changes in domestic fuel rates.
