Mumbai, Nov 3: Here are five stocks in focus on Tuesday, from 31 per cent profit jump for Marico to 28.3 per cent rise for National Aluminium Company (NALCO) to 18.5 per cent decline for ITC to 93.1 per cent surge for Trident to 39.2 per cent increase for Granules India. Here are some key points to note from today’s session.

Marico (MARICO)

Marico posted a 31 per cent year-on-year (YoY) jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 550 crore for the September quarter, driven by a double-digit rise in sales. The result covers the September quarter, the second quarter of the current financial year.

Revenue from operations increased 12 per cent to Rs 3,897 crore, against Rs 3,450 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, a rise of Rs 447 crore. Profit grew far faster than sales, and the Rs 550 crore profit works out to about 14.1 per cent of revenue. Investors will watch how the stock responds to a quarter in which earnings outpaced the top line by a wide margin. In rupee terms, profit rose by roughly Rs 130 crore over the year, and sales growth of 12 per cent was less than half the pace of profit growth.

National Aluminium Company (NATIONALUM)

National Aluminium Company (NALCO) reported a 28.3 per cent YoY rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,835 crore for the second quarter, compared with Rs 1,429.9 crore in the year-ago period. The figures are for the second quarter of FY27 and are compared with the same quarter of the previous year.

Revenue grew 26.3 per cent to Rs 5,419.4 crore from Rs 4,292.3 crore. Over the year, profit rose by about Rs 405 crore and revenue by about Rs 1,127 crore. Because both grew at a similar pace, the gain came mainly from higher sales rather than a sharp change in profitability, with net profit at about 33.9 per cent of revenue against 33.3 per cent a year earlier. Each extra rupee of revenue added about 36 paise of extra profit.

ITC (ITC)

ITC reported an 18.5 per cent YoY decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 4,229 crore for Q2FY27, compared with Rs 5,187 crore in the year-ago period.

The drop of Rs 958 crore in profit was primarily driven by weaker earnings from its cigarette business, despite healthy growth across its FMCG, agriculture and paper segments. ITC is the only company on this list to report a fall in profit, while the other four reported increases. The result shows how much the cigarette business still shapes the group’s earnings, even as its other segments expand. Profit fell to about 81.5 per cent of its year-ago level, so the decline in cigarettes was large enough to outweigh growth elsewhere.

Trident (TRIDENT)

Trident reported a 93.1 per cent YoY jump in consolidated profit to Rs 175.6 crore for Q2, against Rs 90.9 crore in the year-ago quarter. The figures are consolidated and compare the second quarter with the same period a year ago.

Revenue declined 3.8 per cent to Rs 1,719.5 crore from Rs 1,787.2 crore, which means profit nearly doubled even as sales fell by about Rs 67.7 crore. Separately, the board approved a capacity expansion and modernisation project of Rs 4,650 crore. The outlay is more than 26 times the quarter’s profit, a number on which investors may want details of funding and timelines. Profit was about 10.2 per cent of revenue, against about 5.1 per cent a year earlier, so the gain came from better profitability rather than higher sales.

Granules India (GRANULES)

Granules India posted a 39.2 per cent YoY rise in consolidated profit to Rs 181.8 crore in Q2, compared with Rs 130.6 crore a year earlier. Both the profit and revenue figures are consolidated.

Revenue grew 20.3 per cent to Rs 1,560 crore from Rs 1,297 crore, an increase of Rs 263 crore. Profit grew about twice as fast as revenue, and net profit was about 11.7 per cent of total revenue, compared with about 10.1 per cent a year earlier. The Rs 51.2 crore rise in profit was about a fifth of the Rs 263 crore rise in revenue.
