NTPC Ltd also recorded strong activity, with over 1.02 crore shares traded. On the losing side, Wipro Ltd saw more than 1.03 crore shares traded, while Infosys Ltd recorded over 74 lakh shares. Why Top Gainers and Losers Matter
Tracking the day’s strongest gainers and losers gives investors a quick view of where market momentum is building or fading. A sharp price move accompanied by sizeable volume can indicate stronger participation in a stock. However, a single session does not necessarily establish a lasting trend. Investors should also look at the reasons behind the movement, along with company-specific developments and broader market conditions.
Conclusion
At 3:00 PM IST on September 2, 2026, Coal India Ltd led the gainers with a 3.64% rise, while Eicher Motors Ltd was the biggest loser, falling 3.64%. NTPC Ltd and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd remained among the notable gainers, whereas Wipro Ltd and Infosys Ltd faced selling pressure. The day’s movements showed a mixed market, with individual stocks moving sharply in both directions. Investors may continue to watch volumes and price action for signs of whether these moves hold through the close.
