US markets jumped after Powell indicated to a rate cut in September

US equity markets ended the day sharply in green on Friday, 22nd August, 2025. This, after US Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell, indicated in his speech that a rate cut may happen in September. Nasdaq ended the day on Friday, up by 396.22 points or 1.88%. Dow Jones ended the day, up by 846.24 points or 1.89%. S&P 500 ended the day, up by 96.74 points or 1.52%.

European markets also ended the week in green

European markets also ended the day in green on Friday. Euro Stoxx 50 ended the day, up by 26.07 points or 0.48%. Dax ended the day, up by 69.75 points or 0.29%. FTSE 100 ended the day, up by 12.20 points or 0.13%.

Meanwhile, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia escalated once again. After a barrage of attacks by Russia on Ukrainian cities, Ukraine hit back by striking a nuclear plant in Russia. Fire erupted in the plant because of this attack.

Asian markets open strongly in green

Asian markets have opened the day today, 25th August, strongly in green. At 9:00 a.m. IST, 25th August, Nikkei 225 is up by 289.04 points or 0.68%. Hang Seng is up by 537.48 points or 2.12%. Kospi is up by 28.82 points or 0.91%. Shanghai Composite is up by 33.01 points or 0.86%.

Indian markets may start the day in green today. The shadow of additional 25% tariffs on Indian goods by US , as penalty for buying Russian oil, will keep market sentiments subdued. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his government is going to unleash a slew of reforms.
