Mumbai, October 14: Petrol and diesel prices today, October 14, remained unchanged across major Indian cities, with petrol priced at Rs 102.12 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.20 per litre in New Delhi. Among major metros, petrol was costliest in Kolkata at Rs 113.51 per litre, while diesel prices ranged from Rs 89.47 per litre in Chandigarh to Rs 104.40 in Thiruvananthapuram.
Crude oil prices rose on Wednesday, October 14, as traders assessed the risk of supply disruptions following escalating hostilities between Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi rebels and Saudi Arabia, while expectations of increased Russian diesel exports offered some relief to concerns over tight global fuel supplies. Brent crude futures gained 0.5% to $106.2 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures advanced 0.6% to $94.7 a barrel.
The latest gains followed attacks by the Houthis on Saudi targets, including an administrative building belonging to state-owned oil giant Saudi Aramco in Dhahran, which suffered a limited fire, according to Saudi Arabia’s energy ministry. The group has launched missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia over the past week amid tensions linked to Riyadh’s support for Yemeni government forces. An attack on Riyadh’s international airport on Saturday killed 13 people, adding to concerns over the security of critical infrastructure in the region.
However, the prospect of additional Russian diesel supplies could limit further gains by easing tightness in global fuel markets. Russia said it saw no direct connection between its diesel export agreement with the United States and ongoing negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. The statement followed reports that US officials viewed the arrangement as part of efforts to bring Moscow back to the negotiating table. Market participants are weighing the potential supply relief against persistent geopolitical risks affecting crude shipments and key shipping routes.
Supply concerns have also been amplified by disruptions linked to the US-Iran conflict and risks to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil flows. Saudi Arabia increased production last month despite shipment disruptions, contributing to a sharp rise in output across the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, including Russia.

Petrol Prices

Petrol prices remained unchanged across major Indian cities on Wednesday, October 14, with New Delhi retailing the fuel at Rs 102.12 per litre. There was no change in the national capital’s petrol price compared with the previous rate.
In Kolkata, petrol was priced at Rs 113.51 per litre, while Mumbai continued to have one of the highest rates among major metros at Rs 111.21 per litre. Chennai’s petrol price stood at Rs 107.76 per litre, with no daily revision reported in any of the three cities.
In the National Capital Region (NCR), petrol was retailing at Rs 102.97 per litre in Gurgaon and Rs 101.96 per litre in Noida. Prices in both cities remained unchanged, according to the latest available rates.
Petrol prices in India vary across cities due to differences in state taxes, including value-added tax (VAT), and local levies, apart from central duties and other components. Retail prices are revised by oil marketing companies based on prevailing pricing factors, while the tax structure in each state contributes to the variation in pump prices.
Diesel Prices
Diesel prices remained unchanged across major Indian cities on Wednesday, October 14, with the fuel retailing at Rs 95.20 per litre in New Delhi. No daily revision was recorded in the national capital, according to the latest available rates.
Among the major metropolitan cities, diesel was priced at Rs 99.82 per litre in Kolkata, Rs 97.83 in Mumbai and Rs 99.55 in Chennai. Bangalore recorded a rate of Rs 99.56 per litre, while Hyderabad had a higher price of Rs 104.23 per litre.

In the National Capital Region, diesel was retailing at Rs 95.64 per litre in Gurgaon and Rs 95.44 in Noida. Among other cities, prices stood at Rs 100.68 per litre in Bhubaneswar, Rs 89.47 in Chandigarh, Rs 98.25 in Jaipur, Rs 95.36 in Lucknow and Rs 99.36 in Patna. Thiruvananthapuram recorded a rate of Rs 104.40 per litre.
Diesel prices vary across cities because of differences in state-level value-added tax (VAT) and other local levies, in addition to central taxes and other pricing components. These variations result in different retail rates across the country, even when fuel prices remain unchanged on a particular day.
