Mumbai, October 27: Fuel prices remained unchanged across major Indian cities on Tuesday. Petrol costs Rs 102.12 per litre in Delhi and Rs 111.21 in Mumbai, while diesel is priced at Rs 95.20 per litre in Delhi and Rs 97.83 in Mumbai. Among the listed cities, Hyderabad has the highest petrol price at Rs 116.15 per litre, while Thiruvananthapuram records the highest diesel rate at Rs 104.40.

Oil prices edged lower on Tuesday, October 27, as renewed diplomatic efforts to ease the US-Israeli war on Iran raised hopes of reduced supply disruptions. However, continued attacks on Saudi Arabia kept crude benchmarks near six-month highs, limiting the decline. Brent crude futures fell 0.96% to $114.7 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures slipped 0.9% to $100.8 per barrel.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan held talks with Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday to establish channels for negotiations and prevent further military escalation. The countries agreed to continue discussions on peace and security, fuelling hopes of easing regional tensions.

However, the diplomatic efforts have yet to eliminate concerns over energy supplies. Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis have claimed attacks on Saudi Arabia’s East-West crude oil pipeline pumping stations and Riyadh airport, while the Saudi-led coalition said it had destroyed drones targeting Riyadh and other areas. The conflict has also disrupted commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, key routes for global energy trade.

Brent crude climbed about 6% last week, while WTI gained 2.3%, as attacks on energy infrastructure and shipping heightened fears of supply disruptions. With geopolitical risks persisting, investors remain cautious about whether the latest price retreat will be sustained. For oil-importing countries such as India, crude prices hovering around $115 per barrel pose risks to inflation, the import bill and corporate profitability.
