Why Top Gainers and Losers Matter
The top gainers and losers list offers a quick look at the stocks that experienced the strongest price movements during a trading session. Comparing the percentage change with trading volume can give investors a better sense of how actively a stock was traded during the move. Still, a single-session gain or decline does not necessarily point to a longer-term trend, so company-specific developments and broader market conditions also matter.
Conclusion
Bharat Electronics Ltd led the gainers on September 8, rising 1.62% to ₹410.55, while Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Eicher Motors Ltd and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd also closed higher. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd was the biggest loser, falling 2.04%, followed by ICICI Bank Ltd and Axis Bank Ltd. Overall, the 4:00 PM snapshot reflected selective buying in a few stocks alongside selling pressure in several banking, financial and other large-cap counters.
