Mumbai, October 28: Petrol and diesel prices today, October 28, remained unchanged across major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Petrol costs Rs 102.12 per litre in Delhi and Rs 111.21 per litre in Mumbai, while diesel is priced at Rs 95.20 and Rs 97.83 per litre, respectively.

Crude oil prices climbed on Wednesday after a reported missile strike on Saudi Arabia’s largest oil refinery reignited concerns over potential supply disruptions amid the continuing conflict involving Iran and its regional allies.

Brent crude futures rose 1.2% to $115.3 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained 1.15% to $101. The rebound followed a decline of nearly $2 a barrel on Tuesday, when diplomatic efforts in the Middle East briefly eased concerns over supply disruptions.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement claimed on Tuesday that it had struck the Saudi refinery with a missile. The facility has a processing capacity of 550,000 barrels per day. Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the attack, which heightened concerns over the security of energy infrastructure in the world’s largest crude-exporting country.

The latest developments have kept oil markets on edge, with attacks on Saudi energy facilities and disruptions to commercial shipping raising the risk of tighter supplies. Although diplomatic talks have offered some hope of easing regional hostilities, uncertainty over the conflict’s trajectory continues to support prices.

Meanwhile, US crude inventories were expected to have increased marginally by around 15,000 barrels in the week ended October 23, according to a Reuters poll of analysts. OPEC+ producers are also expected to maintain their December production targets at a meeting on Sunday, even as output from several key members remains below their respective quotas.

For India, which depends heavily on imported crude oil, prices above $115 a barrel pose risks to inflation, the rupee and the import bill. Persistently elevated energy costs could also pressure corporate margins and complicate the domestic economic outlook.
