Mumbai, September 12, 2025: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up a large scale FMCG unit in Nagpur was signed between Government of Maharashtra and Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) division of Reliance Industries. The project, valued at more than ₹1,500 crore, will establish a state-of-the-art facility for food and drink products in the Katol region of Nagpur.

Employment and Project Timeline

More than 500 people will be directly employed at the RCPL’s Nagpur unit. As per the MoU, commercial production will start by 2026. Maharashtra government will be backing the RCPL’s project in terms of clearances, approvals and incentive schemes.

Strategic Expansion Plans

The Nagpur project in in line with RCPL’s long term expansion plans. A new project of over ₹40,000 crore to create Asia’s biggest ever integrated food parks was formally announced at Reliance’s annual general meeting (AGM) last month. These facilities will feature robotics, automation and eco-friendly practices to improve efficiency and competitiveness at global levels.

RCPL Growth

Formed as a standalone subsidiary from Reliance Retail, RCPL has grown at a quickly in the FMCG space. The company has surpassed ₹11,000 crore in annual revenue, within just three years of its launch, ranking as one of the fastest-rising players in the segment.

Revenue Ambitions and Global Vision

According to Reliance Industries Director, Isha Ambani, RCPL has proved to be a key growth driver for the group. She projected revenues of around ₹1 lakh crore over the next five years, supported by push from international markets. RCPL is also expected to make way for Reliance’s entry into broader consumer segments such as clothing and electronics.

Brand Portfolio Growth

Through a mix of buyouts and new rollouts, RCPL has expanded its brand portfolio. It owns Tagz Foods and markets products under banners like Campa, Independence, Alan’s, Enzo, and Ravalgaon. This multi-brand strategy targets India’s varied consumer demand while reinforcing Reliance’s position in FMCG sector. The upcoming Nagpur plant represents an important milestone in this journey, cementing RCPL’s expanding influence in the growing consumer space.
