SBI Launches ₹811.05 Floor Price QIP to Raise Capital via Institutional Placement

Mumbai, July 16, 2025 — State Bank of India (NSE: SBIN, BSE: 500112) has officially opened its Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) today, setting a floor price of ₹811.05 per equity share, as approved by the Committee of Directors. This was the first QIP since 2017 and will help in improving institutional visibility and investor focus. The move also highlights SBI’s proactive financial management.
This move follows the securing of a shareholder nod on June 13, 2025, and Central Board approval on May 3, 2025, under the SEBI ICDR Regulations and the SBI Act.

The QIP will involve the issuance of fully paid-up equity shares of face value ₹1 each to qualified institutional buyers (QIBs). The floor price has been determined following Regulation 176(1) of the SEBI ICDR Regulations, with the potential for a discount of up to 5%, as permitted by the shareholder resolution.

The issue price will be finalized by the bank in consultation with the appointed Book Running Lead Managers (BRLMs). The Preliminary Placement Document, dated July 16, 2025, has been filed with both BSE and NSE.

SBI closed at ₹830.50 on July 16, 2025, with an intraday high/low of ₹834.20/ ₹815.30. It rose by 1.72% before the closing bell, ~8% below its 52-week high (₹899) and well above the 52-week low (~₹680).

The QIP is compliant with Chapter VI of the SEBI (Issue of Capital and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2018, as amended. Additionally, trading in SBI securities by designated persons remains restricted under the Bank’s Prevention of Insider Trading Code.
