New Delhi | May 30, 2025: SOM Distilleries & Breweries Ltd (NSE: SDBL | BSE: 507514) reported a 19% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit to ₹237 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, even as total income declined 12% YoY to ₹3,400 million. The resilient profitability was driven by stronger margins and improved cost management.

FY25 Performance Snapshot

The company delivered its highest-ever annual revenue of ₹14,474 million, representing a 13% year-over-year increase. The revenue growth was driven by steady volume growth across the beer and IMFL categories. Net profit surged 21% YoY to ₹1,045 million, supported by a 16.5% increase in EBITDA and expanded gross margins.

Segment-Wise Performance

  • Beer: Contributed 95% of total volumes in Q4. However, the share declined 10.4% YoY in volume terms. Full-year beer volume stood at 234 lakh cases, up 9.5%.
  • IMFL: Grew 22.2% YoY in Q4 and 14% YoY annually, reaching 11.4 lakh cases in FY25.
  • Realisation: Beer realisation was ₹534/case in Q4 vs ₹552/case in Q4 FY24. IMFL realisation improved to ₹991 per case from ₹914 per case.

Brand & Market Highlights

  • The Power Cool brand emerged as the second most popular beer in Karnataka.
  • The Hunter brand grew volumes by 19.9% YoY in Q4 to 19.9 lakh cases.
  • New brand Legend contributed 2.6 lakh cases in Q4.
  • SOM strengthened its position in Jharkhand, becoming the second-largest beer company in the state with a 22% market share.

Strategic & Operational Updates

  • The company began dispatches from its Karnataka facility to Tamil Nadu.
  • Dispatches surged from the Bhopal plant by over 32% in April 2025, highlighting strong seasonal demand and operational efficiency.
  • Initiated construction of a ₹600 crore greenfield project in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, under subsidiary Woodpecker Greenagri Nutrients. The company is now targeting a capacity of over 12 million beer cases annually.

Debt Profile & Liquidity

  • Gross debt reduced to ₹1,710 million from ₹1,770 million YoY.
  • Net debt declined to ₹1,510 million (from ₹1,640 million), improving net debt/EBITDA to 0.63x from 1.06x.
  • Gross debt-equity ratio improved to 0.26x from 0.35x.
