Mumbai, April 28:Shares of Eternal ended marginally lower on Tuesday, coming off lows, as the online delivery company reported a strong set of March-quarter earnings, beating Street expectations on the back of robust growth in its quick commerce business, Blinkit.
The company reported a 346% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit at ₹174 crore for the quarter as Blinkit blazed ahead with its operations.
Blinkit Drives Growth
Blinkit emerged as the hero for the quarter as the quick commerce segment continued to rally and rev up the company’s engine. The arm of Eternal scaled quickly during the period, adding more than 200 stores and bumping up the total to over 2,200. Strong order growth and spreading footprint results in improving unit economics for Blinkit besides landing it a larger share of the company’s revenues.
Revenue Jumps
Eternal reported a sharp jump in revenue from operations, which rose 196% year-on-year to ₹17,292 crore, aided by strong demand across both food delivery and quick commerce segments.
The company’s adjusted EBITDA also saw a strong rise, reflecting improving margins as scale benefits kicked in across businesses.
Competition Remains a Key Monitorable
While growth remains robust, the competitive intensity in the quick commerce space continues to be high. Players such as Swiggy’s Instamart, Zepto, and large e-commerce firms are aggressively expanding, which could keep margins under pressure in the near term.
Analysts say that while Blinkit’s scale-up is encouraging, the pace of profitability improvement will be crucial for sustaining investor confidence.
Outlook
Overall, Eternal’s Q4 performance reinforces its position as a key player in India’s rapidly evolving food delivery and quick commerce ecosystem. Strong topline growth and a profit beat highlight improving fundamentals.
Going ahead, investors are likely to closely track Blinkit’s profitability trajectory, margin expansion and competitive positioning, which will be critical in determining the stock’s next move.
